US Reciprocal Tax Revision in July 2025

 

The US President Donald Trump introduced a new reciprocal tax on importation to the United States from other countries in April 2025. However, the President Trump has revised this taxed for 23 countries up to now. Further, the President has announced that other countries’ tax will also be revised to 15% to 20%. Following chart compares the revised rate in July 2025 with original rates introduced in April 2025.

Exchange rate trend in the week ends on 06th June 2025: Sri Lankan Rupee to US Dollar (Analysis by Deveconomics)

  The average exchange rate last week (from 02 June 2025 to 06 May 2025) was Rs.299.43/USD. The recorded maximum value was Rs.299.55/USD, and the recorded minimum was Rs.299.27/USD. The gap between the maximum and minimum values was Rs. 0.28. The average value of the exchange rate in the previous week (ending on 23 May 2025) was Rs 299.54/USD, and the gap between the minimum and maximum values was Rs.0.35. Although there is no visible change in the weekly average value of the exchange rate last week in comparison to the previous week, the Sri Lankan Rupee has become strong marginally. The average daily exchange rate for a one-year period from 07 June 2024 to 06 June 2025 was Rs.297.75/USD.
